Love it or hate it, you’ve heard of Golf at some point and you may have even caught a game or two on television at some point. If you’re thinking of getting started in the world golf, it will be important for you to get some information on the topic. This article should provide a wealth of such, so keep reading to get your game on!

Starting Out.

As with any hobby, there are certain mistakes that can be made at the outset, and in golf it would be to buy the wrong equipment. If you are not an experienced golfer then you do not need to buy the best or the highest end equipment possible. Doing so can make you look like a fool on the green, and it can handicap your game considerably. There are different sets that suit different people and you will need to examine your capabilities before you commit to any particular type. It is recommended that you start with a half sit which will contain five irons, two woods, and probably a putter. There will be no driver in this set, but you can always use woods for driving. If you really want to put some clubs to the test then it would be in your best interest to test a few sets at a driving range and see how they do for you.

Buying Cheap

When you’re ready to buy your first set of golf clubs, it would be a good idea to make sure you do not go for the most expensive clubs possible. This seems like a difficult prospect to a beginner and you certainly do not want to sacrifice quality. Rather than visiting a retail or department store, it would be in your best interest to visit a Pro shop or even go online. Second hand prices are considerably lower, and buying online can work to your benefit. If you do not know much about clubs, then it would be a good idea to visit a pro shop to try a few out first even if you plan to buy them online. We cannot stress enough however that you should avoid buying high end brands at this point in time.

Taking Lessons

There is a strong chance that you immediate urge will involve running out and playing golf, but before you invite your friends to play, it would be a good idea to learn the rules and of course the basic fundamentals. If you’re eager to shoot, it would be a good idea to start at a driving range where there are no technical rules and there are certain safety related elements to keep accidents from happening.

If you take a few lessons before you start out, then your games with friends and co-workers will go much smoother, and you will feel more confident in the end which is all anyone can ask of themselves on the green.

Getting lessons should be easy, and such lessons will show you things that you never even considered int he world of golf. Something to note however is that you will run into quite a few people who claim to have the ‘great secrets’ to playing golf. Do they? Probably not considering anyone willing to give you free advice probably knows no more than you do. It would be to your benefit to look into professional training, though you may be concerned about the price. For golf lessons you will probably find yourself paying around $30 per half hour, and you might look into group bookings if you are on a budget. Group lessons will be considerably cheaper than standard lessons with a private instructor.

Learning to play golf can be quite a process from the acquisition of the clubs to the actual lessons. However you choose to go about it, make sure that you do not take any blatant shortcuts. The last thing you want to do is gain an improper form or a shorted knowledge of the game. You might pay a bit more for good lessons with professional golfers, but it will be well worth it when you realize that you can finally play golf with the best of them. That being said, now would be a great time to start looking into the various golf clubs and methods for learning the game. Golf is an excellent pastime and something that you can use for business meetings, recreation, and even relieving stress. Get ready, and move into the exciting world of golf!
